Today is a big day and we hope you find it as exciting as we do! 🤓
As some of you may know, we launched Fusebox 2.0 earlier this year and opened our podcast players to the greater podcasting world.
Since the launch, we’ve watched podcasters like you choose Fusebox 2.0 to deliver a superior podcast player experience for your website.
However, releasing Fusebox 2.0 was just the beginning! We’ve spent the last few months collecting customer feedback and looking for ways to improve the capabilities of Fusebox 2.0…and we can finally reveal what we’ve been working on!
What’s even more exciting is that ALL Fusebox 2.0 subscribers are receiving these updates! Including those on a free plan! 🤙
Improved caching performance ⏱
We significantly reduced the time between saving changes in the Fusebox 2.0 dashboard and when those changes were updated within the player. Previously, some customers experienced a delay of up to 30 minutes when saving changes.
With this improvement, changes are now reflected up to 10x times faster than before!
And we’re not done there! This is just the first step of improving overall speed and performance. A second update will be announced soon!
Improved player performance 🏃♀️
We noticed that in our initial build, customers with extensive episode catalogs experienced issues with loading some player modes.
As a response, we updated the embed codes to only load the audio file once a listener clicks the play button, not before.
This significantly impacts how quickly a Fusebox 2.0 player can display on your website as it no longer requires all the episode data to load with your page.
Episode-specific cover images (beta) 🎭
While the podcast cover art is an important part of a show’s identity, we also understand customers may want the ability to include special, episode-specific images to highlight important episodes.
We’re pleased to announce the introduction of a beta feature that allows customers to add an episode-specific image file into a player!
For those who are familiar with tweaking Javascript, our Beta version is for you and the instructions are here.
For those who don’t like messing with the backend Javascript, look for an update coming soon.
Integration support with Podpage 🤝
Managing a podcast website can sometimes be a lot! So, we partnered with Podpage to help take the hassle out of maintaining your website.
With this integration, customers looking for an out-of-the-box, ready-to-use podcast website no longer have to compromise on their podcast player.
Simply authenticate your Podpage account with your Fusebox 2.0 Show ID and away you go!

What comes next?… 🗓
You will be pleased to hear that we’re not stopping with these important enhancements – the next most requested feature is on the way! We’re working very hard to deliver a HUGE player enhancement that will bring together the best parts of our Archive Player and our Single Track Player.
In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to help@fusebox.fm for anything you may need.
Cheers and happy podcasting,
The Fusebox Team ✌️
