Hello, and welcome to another Fusebox release! These are the official release notes for Fusebox Player 2.12 and Transcript Plugin 1.3.
Every feature release for our products, I’ll be here walking you through the latest changes, bug fixes, and new features. As a reminder, my name is Nōn Wels and I’m the Customer Experience Lead at Fusebox.
In this release, we added some additional new features for the Transcript Plugin, including styles, and we added a long-asked for feature to the Fusebox Players. Plus loads more!
As a reminder, new features are part of the Pro subscription only, so if you are a Free subscriber, these updates don’t apply to your subscription. Bug fixes, however, apply to both Free and Pro subscriptions. If you have any questions about that, or want to learn about how the Free subscription compares to the Pro subscription, click the button below:
On that topic, I’ve been working on adding more clarity and robustness into our support database, including creating a clear delineation between what support docs are for Pro subscribers, and what support docs are for Free subscribers. The goal of which is to empower you to find the answers you need, and to aid in avoiding confusion.
We’ve also made it easier for you within your Fusebox dashboard to filter and search if you have multiple site activations. We’ll get into that toward the end.
As always, if you have any questions, I’m the guy in the inbox, so please reach out by emailing me at help@fusebox.fm!
Okay, let’s get to the release, shall we? I want to start with the Transcript Plugin, and a new email integration we’ve added!
ActiveCampaign Integration with the Transcript Plug
In our last release, we added email capture functionality for the transcript plugin, with ConvertKit and MailChimp as the two options. Now, we’ve added a third: ActiveCampaign!
Email integration with your transcript plugin creates another opportunity to get your audience on your email list. If you’re an ActiveCampaign user, you can get this set up in a flash by following the instructions here. (Scroll down the the third section.)
For a peek at how the email integration looks, check it out here:

Next up for the transcript plugin, we’ve added a small feature for Pro subscribers that allows you to use your WordPress theme’s fonts and styles.
Transcript Plugin WordPress Theme Fonts and Styles
Now in your Fusebox Transcript Settings (Settings > Fusebox Transcript), you have the option to change your transcript text and color styles to match your WordPress theme as opposed to our designed text and color styles. While our styles are recommended because that’s what we’ve tested and love the look, you have a choice now! (Pro subscribers only.)
To set this up for yourself, simply go to Settings > Fusebox Transcript > General tab.
Now let’s shift into the Fusebox players. We’ve added a couple of small shortcode options for the track player and timestamps in Version 2.12, which include:
Custom Start Time Shortcode for Track Player
With the custom “start time” shortcode option, you can make your track player start at anytime you want. So let’s say you want to start at a specific section of your podcast episode because your guest is saying something really profound starting at 14:34, you can.
To accomplish this, it’s easy, just add start=”14:34″ (or whatever time you want) in your shortcode; but make sure it’s at the end.
Here’s an example:
So, again, that’s add start=”YOUR TIME HERE” at the end of your track player shortcode.
Okay, let’s jump into the next shortcode option, but this time for timestamps:
New Line Shortcode Option for Manual Timestamps
With the new line shortcode option for timestamps, you can make a simple change to how the clickable timestamps look (and which text is clickable) on the front end.
Traditionally, you’d set up your clickable timestamps in your Fusebox Player settings (Settings > Fusebox Player > Timestamps tab). And they’d look like this:
In the above example, the time and the text are clickable. That’s the norm. And you can set up by following the directions here. But if you want to change how the clickable timestamps work, you can do so manually by adding shortcodes. Here’s an example:
[3:09]
Whatever non-clickable text you want here.
[6:04]
And here
[15:03]
Okay, here as well.
[20:04]
And so on
[24:18]
And so forth
This is how that looks on the front-end:
The difference is that the only clickable part is the time.
In addition to the above updates, we’ve squashed a few bugs, which we’ve documented here.
Finally, let’s talk about a change we’ve made to your Fusebox Dashboard: multi-site activation, filtering, and search!
Multi-Site Activation, Filter, and Search
If you have multiple sites activated under your Fusebox Pro subscription, or want to add additional sites, this new change in your dashboard will come in handy!
Now you can activate, filter, and search multi-sites within your settings. First, login to your Fusebox dashboard. Next, navigate to Settings > Sites. You will see a list of domains that says Your Sites.
There are four categories we put your websites in:
- Live: Your site that has the Fusebox tools installed.
- Staging: Your staging or development (i.e. testing) site. Read more about development domains here.
- Inactive: Your site that no longer has the Fusebox tools installed.
- Excessive: If you see this, it means your subscription doesn’t allow for that “excessive” site activation. You would need to add a site.
There are various views depending on your situation. Here are some examples:
Less Than 10 Sites
More Than 10 Sites
When you have more than 10 sites, you’ll see a search bar to easily search through your list of sites.
Sites Filtered
In this example, you’ll see that live and staging are checked, thereby excluding the inactive sites.
Excessive Sites
When you have more site activations than your subscription currently allows, this is what you’ll see.
With this new dashboard functionality, the goal ultimately is to empower you, and to make things easier to manage your websites. We hope you dig it!
Finally, before I go, we’re hosting another webinar next week to go over these new features and updates, and we’d love to see you there! It’s on August 19 at 11am PST / 2pm EST and you can sign up below!
Thanks for being part of the Fusebox family! As always if you have any questions, please email us at help@fusebox.fm. Talk soon!
